LEAK SEALING OF 24” ANSI 600 MONOLITHIC INSULATING JOINT – ENCAPSULATION CLAMPS
1. Monolithic Insulating Joints develop leaks and immediate replacement of the joint is not always feasible.
2. In the past MIJ were repaired with clamps however the MIJ would be electrically by passed
3. Presently the MIJ repair clamps are internally coated and with a 3PE internal coating.
4. This assists in maintaining the electrical isolation
5. The following points need to be ensured for electrical insulation

i. The MIJ surface is fully coated and holiday test conducted prior to clamp installation
ii. The Clamp corners are rounded to R10 minimum
iii. No metal to metal contact is present between Clamp and MIJ
iv. The seals are of required Electrical Insulating Rating
